Profile: CPS - first guitar lessons at Mel
Bay's Studios, in '62, in the print shop where the Mel Bay guitar book series
were published - just down the street from Mel Bay's Music Store in Kirkwood,
MO. Through passion for playing, stuck with the lessons with the help my teacher
Sly Stoner, till we ran out of Mr. Bay's books. Besides, I thought I knew
it all anyway - yeah wrong, in fact recently bought a number of new books from
Mel Bay's on-line.
First band - The Summits which practiced every Saturday in Billy's basement and
played gigs throughout the St. Louis area from '63 thru '67. First guitar a
cherry red Kay with double cutaways. Favorite primary guitar - my C.F. Martin,
model D-76. Favorite electric guitars a 60's Daphne Stratocaster and my Les Paul
Gold Top or maybe it's the 78 Strat, fact is they're all my favorites.
Former favorite, a pristine '64 SG Jr., which our 17 year old son has taken
permanently to his room.
Favorite Bands - The Beatles, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, The Byrds. Led
Zeppelin,
and
NEW for us and well worth listening to is "Chuck Prophet and the Mission
Express".
Profile: MRS - No 9. That is correct, Marguerite is No.9 in a 13
children family consisting of 10 beautiful sisters and
never mind the 3 brothers. Fortunately for us, she spent much of her time in her
mother's kitchen in S. Louisiana, so we get the benefits in crawfish dishes,
gumbos and other cajun treats at meal time. Clients benefit from Marguerite's
excellent knowledge of style and good taste and helps many clients in making
their display case colors selection by phone. She also knows every aspect of the
manufacture of the display and play case line, so if you need answers, M usually
has them. P.S. if you are one of more than 13 let us know, as your parents were
obviously just out of control!
Motivation for what we do at displayandplay.com -
love of the guitar & appreciation for their beauty and that of other music
instruments, be they a fine sax or a neat set of bag pipes, etc.
Drive - a strong want to get much more personal
enjoyment and satisfaction from our own musical instruments. We were simply
tired of our instruments being hidden out of sight in their travel cases, or
sitting precariously perched on metal stands that were designed for stage
use..
What we wanted was:
a case that facilitated three key functions.
1-
Display of an instrument,
2-
Easy access for Play of an instrument and last and most important, to
preserve and better protect the instrument while at home.
The result was the Heritage Heirloom Oak model for the Martin D-76 and Gibson
J160. With the addition of a brass light kit the Heritage Oak met our
every expectation and enabled us to enjoy our acoustic instruments more of each
day. Then naturally not wanting to leave our favorite electric guitars out, we
designed and built the Electric66 model convertible and hard-top cases and found
them to be stunning in their look and a ton of fun to mix and match outer
coverings with beautiful interiors in display and play of electric instruments.

We are supporters of Little Kids Rock. Display and Play has provided fine wall
display cases now found at The Record Plant in Los Angeles and continues to
provide more cases each year as doing our part in working with Little Kids Rock
to enable instruments to have a place to stay for signing at various West coast
and East Coast recording studios. Given a chance please add your support to
Little Kids Rock to help them can get more instruments to children who otherwise
will not have the chance to experience the joys of music and personal
development it can provide.
Now you have the who, what ,
when and oh yeah the where. We build the cases in The Woodlands, TX, a community
just North of Houston.
We hope you enjoy the
displayandplay site, the products and the services. We are passionate about
our products give us a call if we can help you in a decision regarding a display
and play case for your home, apartment, office, studio or place of business.......CPS
