Rubber in the late '50s and 60's tolex is cloth fabric supported vinyl
which is both rugged and flexible. Due to it's durability, Leo Fender and
the Fender Company began using the material as a covering for Fender
guitar amplifiers. Originally offered in black, it now comes in dozens of
colors and textures.
